A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE CARTEL FAMILY
CtL (Cartel), Ctl (Syndicate), CL2, CL3, CL4, CL5, and CL6
The Cartel (CtL) was created in July 2019 in Kingdom 18.
The Cartel (CtL) was created in July 2019 in Kingdom 18. It was originally a split from TheRedWedding (TrW, previously known as ArmyOfDead [AOD]), which had been K18’s strongest alliance since the game was launched. The founder of CtL and previous king of K18, EscobarPablo, believed that TrW had concentrated too much power, which made K18 stale and uncompetitive. Therefore, CtL would encourage a healthier and more balanced kingdom in which all alliances would be able to play and grow. This has remained the core principle of Cartel. While it is primarily a fighting guild, it was never meant to be offensive or aggressive. It is not a predator alliance and does not invade kingdoms. On the contrary: it protects servers and encourages their growth. For this reason, Cartel has always followed strict attacking limits aimed at preventing its members from causing excessive harm to other alliances. Mere weeks after its creation, CtL became the main alliance of K18, which at the time was one of the game’s most active and populated servers. The old TrW, now renamed Bloodmoney (BLO), soon re-merged into CtL. However, the most difficult moment in the alliance’s history came in late September 2019, when RedDevil (ReD) launched a hostile invasion of K18 and took over the server. Due to rivalries and divisions between K18 alliances, unfortunately it was not possible to resist the ReD onslaught. Cartel was forced into exile. .
At that moment, upon an invitation from VMO (later UBD), then the ruling alliance of K19, CtL moved peacefully to Kingdom 19. That was a wise choice, for Cartel flourished in K19. From October to December 2019, under the co-leadership of KPI and TheDouche, CtL recruited talented players from various servers, grew exponentially and became one of the world’s three top alliances – a position it retains to this day. This culminated with a merger with HappyHookers (HaH), a major guild from K4, in December. An important milestone took place in January 2020, when The Syndicate (Ctl), the second main alliance of the Cartel Family, was born. This was required because the original CtL was overcrowded and needed room for new candidates, especially players from alliances that were leaving K19 at the time; and to make it possible to launch double rallies on potential invaders. From day one, there has been a horizontal relationship between Cartel and Syndicate, which share the same leadership, principles, Discord server and banking system. Members frequently move between them for events. Syndicate soon recruited several veteran players and became one of the largest and most active guilds of Kingdom 19. .
Another major turning point in our history occurred in early March 2020, when Cartel peacefully became the ruling alliance of K19, replacing Vendetta (VDN) in that role. Previously we adopted a neutral stance and had no interest in taking Kings Landing, but at that moment we realized that our power and fighting capability meant that we should take full political and military responsibility for the destiny of K19, with the support of all other alliances. Napoleon IV, who later became the overall leader of the Cartel Family, was crowned king of K19. We faced a formidable challenge in April 2020, when the DragonLeague (ATD) invaded our kingdom. CtL summoned other K19 guilds and led a successful defense of our server, winning 4 out of 5 siege battles against the invaders. The war lasted a month and ended with the decisive victory of K19 and the departure of ATD. In May 2020, the Cartel family launched its first organized interkingdom expedition, with its original server - K18 - as the destination. Justice was therefore served to ReD, once the invaders of K18. The Cartel family ruled K19 for five successful months, from March to August 2020, when the kingdom was known throughout the GoTWIC world as a model of prosperity, fairness and efficient organization. .
Near the end of this period, however, most alliances quit K19 for different internal reasons, and attempts to replace them failed. Emigration flows were intensified by the arrival of BangTanBoys (BTS), a mega whale alliance, in July 2020. K19 became empty and depopulated - no longer a suitable place to play. In these circumstances, a difficult but necessary decision was taken: for the second time, the Cartel family migrated. On 7 August 2020, we moved peacefully to Kingdom 54, a thriving server and our new home. Weeks later, amidst the collapse of the previous ruling alliance, Synergy (SYG), Cartel assumed the leadership of K54 to stabilize and rebuild it, with Napoleon IV crowned king once more. Between early September and mid-October 2020, we deployed our second organized interkingdom expedition, with a large Cartel-Syndicate force harvesting plenty of military glory in K34. Meanwhile, our home server of K54 faced a hostile invasion by RunningUnderFear (RuN) in mid-September 2020. CtL joined forces with BloodyEclipse (BCL) and the other alliances of K54 - FamilyDutyHonor (FDH) and FireAndBlood (FAb) - and successfully repelled the aggressors. After five weeks of total war, RuN left K54 in defeat. In parallel, FAb merged into the Cartel family, with most of its members joining Syndicate and CL4. .
Yet another failed invasion of K54, this time launched by NeuroticOutsiders (N3O), took place between November and December 2020. CtL once again cooperated with its trusted allies – BCL and TheBloodsRemember (BDR), which moved to K54 in this period – to secure an easy victory over the N3O invaders, which eventually left the server. At that juncture, Syndicate made an important decision for its future and moved to a new server, K98, where it would be able to grow autonomously while remaining a part of the Cartel family. After a brief and victorious war over the previous ruling alliance, ThePhoenix (PnX), Syndicate consolidated its authority over K98, with its duke, ZaneBelir, crowned the new king. The Cartel family, ruler of both K54 and K98, has consolidated its reputation as one of the most stable, organized, respected and admired GOTWiC brands, with an outstanding performance in all events. CtL currently holds the title of Champion City Siege of its pool of kingdoms and has the very best KvK record of all major alliances, with 15 victories in 18 battles. It is the current champion of Siege of Winterfell and Alliance Conquest and consistently ranks among the top guilds in all other activities, including Ultimate Conquest, Army of the Dead, Elite Trials and Alliance Mobilization. It was voted by players as the most popular alliance of GOTWiC. And it looks ahead towards an even brighter future.
